Katja-Maria/Kay Taavitsainen is a multidisciplinary artist (dance, installation & film maker, composer & sound artist, embodied performer, somatic researcher and facilitator) with a strong background in movement research, contemporary dance, somatic as well as classical practices. They graduated as a BA of dance and MA of arts in choreography in the Theater Academy of Helsinki in Finland, has done their complementary studies in New York Film Academy in acting for film and is currently starting their complementary studies in film making in Berlin. They’re born in Finland, lived and worked as a performer and dance artist in Helsinki, Berlin, Singapore, Bangkok and New York dancing, performing, teaching their own practice and participating on artist in residency programs, workshops and master classes. Their own works are performed in Europe in different festivals and independent theaters such as Ateneum Theater, Cable Factory of Helsinki, Forum Box Helsinki, Kulturhuset Stockholm, Acker Stadt Palast Berlin and Uferstudios & ADA studios, Berlin. As a singer- songwriter they released their first EP on December 2017 (Good Taste Records, Helsinki) and before that performed a lot with their music getting recognition and radio play as an independent artist. 2022 they released a debut album EHKÄLEVY under an artist name Meu Kävi Täällä. They’re currently based in Berlin working with different choreographers and artists as well as with their own practice with movement, sound, film and installations. Their upcoming projects “FUTUREDANCES” a performance project for a collective, “I’M THE MONSTER” first part of a solo trilogy and “THE DREAMERS” a somatic film project are all released throughout the 2022-2023. With their work they’ve always been interested of the multitude and layered human condition, the vast universe that we all are and how it shifts and bends creating a flux of identities and experiences embodied in this very unique somatic system of ours
